Water Polo Australia has confirmed that, as of tomorrow Monday March 16 2020, The National League Season is over.
Water Polo Australia has, overnight sent out correspondence to all National League clubs confirming what many had feared will happen, ending the National League season for 2020 due to COVID-19, commonly known as Corona Virus.
“Effective from Monday March 16 2020, the OVO Australian Water Polo League will be terminated for 2020.”

Other than that, the 2020 Water Polo National Championship due to be held in Adelaide in May, will be canceled. The Country & Masters due to be held on the Gold Coast in May will be postponed (Date TBC).
This comes as no surprise as all major sporting competitions have come to a halt on a global scale including NBA, Champions League Football, and the top 5 Europe Football league, amongst many more. It is terrible news, especially so close to finals with this year looking to be hotly contested with high level water polo being played in the Men’s & Women’s competitions with many with their eyes on Olympic Water Polo.
